Sight Seeing in Budapest

There are so many beautiful and historic places to visit in Budapest that there is always something to do. The stunning gothic – baroque style architecture of the 700 year old Royal Palace is well worth a visit to admire the residence of Hungarian Kings, as are the gleaming white cloisters of the Fisherman's Bastion. Beautifully floodlit at night makes the Bastion glows across the city, plus you can enjoy stunning panoramic views from one of the 7 turrets.

The Parliament Buildings are one the world's most beautiful and are a prominent and imposing sight of Budapest. Its distinctive red dome, stone lace carvings, spires and an interior of marble and gold only add to the splendor of this magnificent building.

There are many beautiful religious buildings in the city all with their own character and attraction. Matthias Church is 700 years old and its multicoloured tiled roof and gothic spire can be seen from some distance. With regular choir and organ concerts and a church museum including many religious treasures this church is a must on anyone's itinerary. Other religious buildings you must see include St Stephen's Basilica, which also houses the 900 year old mummified fist of the first King of Hungary, and the beautiful Central Synagogue.

For spectacular views across the city head to Chain Bridge; the first and most famous in Budapest with it's solid arches and fabulous lion statues.

The Statue Park is an outdoor museum containing monuments from Hungary's communist past which were banished from the city. It is the only collection of its kind in the world and provides a fascinating insight into the history of the country. There are also dozens of other museums in Budapest including the Museum of Fine Arts and the National Museum.

For some beautiful natural sights there are over 200 caves in Budapest, of which 3 main ones are open to the public to admire the stunning stone formations caused by the hot springs.
